Why a Wired Wireless printer?
I recently bought an all-in-one wireless printer from HP with a screen and SD-card reader. I thought great now I can finally print without physically connecting the printer to my PC. But to my regret I discovered that I had to connect it to configure the printer properly.
So I thought to myself. Why don’t HP just use a web interface where to user can write the configuration and then save it on a USB disc or SD-card. The user would then plug the disc in the printer and the printer would automatic install itself. Since almost every printer you buy to-day features a front USB or SD-card plug this idea is very feasible.

My other idea is to print the configuration sheet created on the web portal on a different printer and then scan it using the new printer. If the printer have OCR, text recognition it could simply print a configuration sheet on the first power on. The user would then fill out the paper using normal handwriting and then scan the document. Voilà a fully wireless printer…
