Designing the user experience of electric cars, ChoosEV & DTU, 2010
Designing the user experience of electric cars, helping users take advantage of the mobility offered by the electric car. The concept “InMotion” was developed in collaboration with the supplier of electric vehicles ChoosEV. The project included a comprehensive socio-technical study of the use of an electric car in private homes and Danish companies, including Copenhagen Airport. The study aimed to uncover realistic use scenarios for electric cars, and to identify usability and user experience issues. The result was a concept description specifying user interaction and a human-machine interface. The project was documented in a 160-page report and presented to the censor and company management.
I contributed with my ability to organise and execute creative problem solving using a combination of design, engineering and IxD methodology.
Design of knowledge management system, Unicef & DTU, 2011
UNICEF Supplies and Logistics were building an innovation Lab in Copenhagen. They desired a solution that allowed both internal project participants and external ones, such as companies and students, to cooperate on UNICEF projects. IMPACT is a physical and virtual knowledge management system designed for communicating the progress of ongoing projects. IMPACT provides a set of tools and methods to share project results and progress, while allowing co-workers to comment on and contribute to the project.
I contributed with my ability to understand user needs and translate them into actual designs. My main responsibility was the user experience and interface design of the prototype iPad app.
EXPERIENCE work and student jobs
Founder & Creative Director Plexiware, 2012-now
Plexiware is Jens Nörtershäuser and Sebastian Krumhausen, a freestyle design team, best known for their first product, a board wall mount made of acrylic glass. Plexiware is a young startup company passionate about great design and simplicity. Plexiware is what combines our passion about snowboarding and design. We keep a personal touch and contact with our customer in the freestyle snow and water sports community.
Executive Manager Grøn Vision, 2010-2011
As executive manager of the Danish student organisation Grøn Vision (Green Vision) I organised the development of online teaching materials for secondary schools about sustainability and green technologies. I developed project descriptions in cooperation with sponsoring companies and managed a large portfolio of projects from the idea phase to implementation. I fundraised a total of 1.1 million DKK, starting new projects with Danish companies such as Dong Energy, Dansk Energi, Vindmølleindustrien, COWI and Det Blå Danmark, as well as creating a web platform of interactive educational resources for schools in conjunction with the Roskilde Festival and the green think tank Concito. As a personal goal I wanted to motivate children to explore a subject beyond the level expected of them. This was done by enhancing the learning experience through the use of interactive elements in our teaching materials.
My responsibilities included corporate strategy, fundraising, budgeting, project development, business contact, and recruitment of students and personnel. I handled several events where Grøn Vision’s value proposition had to be sold to ensure the future of the organisation.
This project gave me the experience of having overall responsibility for an organisation and being able to influence its future.
Board member Yngre fagligt Forum, 2011
Yngre Fagligt Forum (YFF) is a multidisciplinary forum for the younger members of the danish engineering association IDA, where the focus is on organizing academic events and raising awareness of the professional engineering activities of IDA.
I coordinate, plan and organize events in collaboration with the other board members and networks in IDA.
Product design intern Whomadeid, 2010
During a 6-month internship I used my acquired skills in engineering design, especially my competences in industrial design. I improved my ability to visualise my ideas through hand sketching and 3D modelling. This was an opportunity to obtain practical experience about product design in all parts of the design process.
Assistant teacher in Dynamics and vibrations, DTU 2009
Communication of basic dynamic phenomena in mechanical systems. I instructed the students in a structured and orderly way, and changed my way of explaining the material so the students could see the problem from different angles. At the end of the course I was given positive feedback from the students.
IT-Supporter, Industriens Pension, 2008-2010
I solved problems encountered on the employees’ PCs and serviced the company’s in-house servers, providing non-technical explanations of specialist terms to non-IT staff. I also questioned existing work patterns and use of existing software tools to get to the root of the problem.
Student help, IT-Jobbank, 2007-2008
Investigative customer service where I contacted customers to map and address potential widespread problems. I managed my own tasks and planned autonomously using my experience and thoroughness of how the different tasks should be followed up to ensure a high quality.
Phone support, Telia, 2007
Support of newer mobile phones, including sale and general customer support. My task included canvassing of Telia’s first VoIP product to selected customers. I worked quickly with high quality. I learned how to handle surly and uninterested customers and turn this to own advantage.
Hotel porter, Imperial Hotel, 2006-2007
I solved everyday IT problems for both the management and guests, and was also tested in stressful situations such as preventing fire. I dealt with both domestic and international guests, and gained knowledge of how to communicate a message simply and accurately, and the importance of a presentable appearance, including having a polite and forthcoming manner towards strangers.
Military service, Antvorskov kasserne 2006
Trained as a member of a combat troop and graduated with Her Majesty’s honour. I participated in a parachute training course, a 15-hour firefighting course and received a silver medal in the 30-hour first aid course. I tested and transcended personal boundaries by physical endurance, discipline and military trial. I also felt the sense of community gained by working within a platoon and the achievement of overcoming goals which seemed impossible at first sight.
EDUCATION stud. Msc. Eng
Post Graduate Diploma, Human Computer Interaction, UCL 2011-2012
Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is a broad discipline that has grown out of psychology and computer science but also includes elements of design, ergonomics and informatics. It has also been influenced by sociology and anthropology.
MSc. Engineering. Design and Innovation, DTU 2010-2012
The M.Sc. in Design and Innovation combines insight in technology with innovation, industrial design with engineering, and management with entrepreneurship. Design engineers have a holistic approach to engineering which focuses on method, technique and context. The education includes a combination of technical science and social science disciplines and skills. I have chosen to focus on interaction and systems design.
Throughout my studies, I have learned to lead a group by listening to the participants, structuring the work and finally preparing clear tasks. As a design engineer I am able to combine a variety of technical disciplines with a consideration of stakeholder interests, user needs, environmental impact, aesthetics and usability, with the end goal of synthesising new products and services.
Summer School in service design. Katalyst, KU 2011
The summer school in service design and service innovation was a 3-week innovation process where I collaborated with students from the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen Business School to solve specific service challenges for a selected client.
My team worked as consultants for the Danish Centre for Health Innovation. Our task was to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and relatives whilst saving resources for the public health service. During the process, we had to pitch our progress and insights every week, and were guided and challenged by innovation and process leaders, anthropologists, rhetoricians, designers and philosophers to improve our concepts.
BEST course: TRIZ – Innovation theory, Politechnico Milano 2008
Intensive 10-day course with engineering students from across the EU. Lectures by Italy’s leading researcher in TRIZ-Innovation theory, company visits and tours during Milan Design Week 08.
Philosophy course, Testrup Højskole 2005
4-month stay with an immersion in philosophy, rhetoric, bodily theatre, photography and film. Løgstrup taught me that one always holds a portion of the other one’s life in his hand; Nietzsche, that the brave is he who sees the abyss, but with pride.
Gymnasium, Gammel Hellerup Gymnasium 2002 -2005
Mathematics and physics on advances level (A levels), with teaching tailored for computer learning. I learned how to work in groups and to reach a better result when collaborating.

INTERESTS personal
I enjoy watching films and sci-fi, and I also spend time reading, mostly books with a more philosophical theme such as the novels of Milan Kundera, but also books about design and architecture. I also read comic books, and follow numerous blogs about design and technology on a daily basis. In my spare time I run, bicycle, play squash, and try not sit down all day.
